Help teachers understand the feedback and put it into practice.

New Assistant Principal Series: Teacher Coaching and Feedback

Growth MindED Consulting is offering a New Assistant Principal Series focused on teacher coaching and feedback. The eight-week virtual series is designed for assistant principals who are learning to balance classroom observations, teacher coaching meetings, and follow-up with their other school responsibilities. As spring reviews approach, assistant principals need to give teachers clear guidance about what to strengthen and provide support that helps teachers apply that feedback in their classrooms.

The series gives participants structured time to strengthen their coaching skills using their school’s teaching expectations and the needs of teachers on their caseload. During each session, participants will use classroom observation data to prepare feedback, practice coaching conversations with peers, and receive guidance from Nicole. Between sessions, participants will apply those skills in their schools. They will then return to the group to discuss changes in teacher practice and student learning and determine the next steps in their coaching.

Eight weekly virtual sessions • Fridays, 1–2 p.m. Eastern • $999 per participant • Up to eight participants

Series dates: March 12 through April 30, 2027.

What you will be able to do

  • Use classroom observation data and your school’s rubric to identify a clear coaching focus.
  • Write feedback that explains what you observed, why it matters for students, and what the teacher can practice next.
  • Lead a coaching meeting that includes teacher reflection, modeling, practice, feedback, and another attempt.
  • Use follow-up observations to decide whether to continue the coaching focus or adjust the support.

Prepare for the coaching meetings already on your calendar

During sessions, you will prepare or revise feedback, coaching agendas, and follow-up notes for use in your own school. Completed samples show how to use the materials, and reusable templates help you carry a teacher’s goal and agreed support into the next meeting. Therefore, you can spend less time creating forms or reconstructing earlier conversations and more time deciding how to support the teacher.

What is included

  • Eight live sessions with Nicole and a small group of peers. You will discuss current coaching questions, practice the conversation, receive feedback, and revise your approach.
  • Classroom Observation Scripting Sheet. Record what teachers and students say and do so that your feedback rests on specific classroom observations.
  • Teacher Coaching Goal and Feedback Planning Template. Connect the teacher’s current practice to a coaching goal, an intended student outcome, and a manageable next step.
  • Weekly Teacher Coaching Agenda Template and Coaching Conversation Exemplars. Prepare for teacher reflection, modeling, practice, and feedback, with sample language and explanations of the leader’s decisions.
  • Teacher Caseload and Coaching Follow-up Tracker. Keep teacher goals, agreed support, and follow-up observations together so that you can review progress across your caseload.

Who should participate

The series is intended for assistant principals in approximately their first three years in the role who observe and coach teachers. More experienced leaders may also find it useful if the session outcomes match their current development needs. Participants will use their school’s existing teaching expectations and examine one teacher’s coaching cycle in depth.

Your facilitator

I’m Nicole Bryan, founder of Growth MindED Consulting. Over the last decade, I have developed performance management frameworks, rubrics, and teacher coaching structures for charter organizations. I developed this series to give leaders time to apply that work to their own schools, receive feedback, and revise their approach as they learn what is working.

Our approach connects observation data, focused feedback, teacher reflection, modeling, practice, and follow-up. The full outline explains how the approach aligns with the work of Paul Bambrick-Santoyo, Doug Lemov and his coauthors, and Jim Knight.

Time commitment and missed sessions

Each session lasts one hour. Between sessions, allow about 20–30 minutes to prepare or revise your materials, in addition to your usual observation and coaching time.

Have a spring-break conflict? You can still participate. If you miss a session, you will receive a session packet with a summary and outline, the materials used, a completed example of the session’s task, and directions for applying the skill in your school. You can continue the work and rejoin the following week.

Registration and payment

The cost is $999 per participant. Register and pay online. If your school requires an invoice, select “Request a school invoice” when registering.

Enrollment and schedule changes

The series is designed for six to eight participants. Growth MindED Consulting reserves the right to cancel or reschedule the series if fewer than six participants enroll. If Growth MindED cancels, participants will receive a full refund. If the series is rescheduled, participants may transfer their registration or receive a full refund.

Participant cancellations and substitutions

Participants may cancel for a full refund through February 19, 2027, three weeks before the first session. After that deadline, registration is nonrefundable. A school may substitute another eligible participant by contacting Growth MindED Consulting before the series begins.
